Adam's Efforts To Watch The Classics.....Roundup

As was discussed, I've now seen Raiders of the Lost Ark. Loved it. Since then, I've reactivated (for at least a month) my Netflix DVD subscription and am aiming to knock a few more off the list.

I took a brief detour to grab Iron Man 3 (liked it a lot) but then had Jaws next on the queue as per consensus of film nerds worldwide.

Okay, fine. I had Bette Midler's classic "Hocus Pocus" at the top of the queue, but that has a "very long wait."

I mailed Iron Man 3 back and expected to get Jaws next as there were no delays noted, however I just got an email telling me that #3 on my queue will actually be here tomorrow.

What is #3, you ask?

Robocop.

I'll keep y'all updated on my efforts here. As always, any suggestions of what to watch/not watch are much appreciated.

 Now THIS thread is a keeper!!

I personally kind of dig Robocop but also feel conflicted as I can't help think it's over-rated amongst my fellow nerds.

I will watch Jaws with you.  Let's find a time that works in both time zones (late evening for me, late afternoon for you maybe?) and I will watch it at the same time as you.

Robocop is pretty solid stuff. Peter Weller is still in love with it. He talks about it like it's one of the hottest chicks he ever banged.

 Detroit is nothing like the movie, btw. Although that didn't stop us from commissioning a statue of Robocop for the city.

So again, what the hell brought you to a movie website to begin with?  Did you accidentally stumble into original Corona Coming Attractions whilst looking for a online bookstore?

I honestly can't remember. I think it was probably my excitement over A.I. or Minority Report or something like that which led me over to the original CA. Then I wound up writing for Test Pattern for a bit and became the sports and TV and 24um mod.

Basically, Dalty, I just couldn't figure out how to quit you.

Hmm. I sometimes need to refresh the page after initially entering a thread in order to be able to actually post, but it's still posting! So there's that!

I think it probably would've had to have been A.I. that got me here. I know I started when I was 16 and I remember Patrick having a ton of scoops about that one, so we'll blame Haley Joel Osment for my existence here.

All right, first you go to Tools > Options. In the Options window, choose the tab at the top that says "Advanced" and then select the "Update" tab under that submenu. Tick the radio button that says "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them." That way, you'll prevent Firefox from automatically updating itself while you're checking which version you have.

To actually check the version number, go to Help > About Firefox - that should tell you which version you're running (right under the big title that says Firefox).

Just out of curiosity, which browser have you been using all this time? Chrome?

Chrome is correct, yes. Both on my PC at work and my Mac at home.

Give me a second and I'll tell you which version of Firefox I'm running right now.

Speaking of old classics Adam likely hasn't seen, there's a little movie you should check out called The Wizard of Oz. I hear it's ok. Add it to the queue!

I'd agree with that. It certainly wasn't *bad* by any means, but it wasn't worthy of the gigantic hype either. It was just good.
