So now we just get video posts and no retro review? I may just think about complaining to management.
Should this go in an Awesome Audio thread then?

The commentator's reaction is even better than the shot.
That commentator's reaction isn't even close to the awesomeness of Dutch commentator Jack van Gelder's reaction to Dennis Bergkamp's winning goal in the 1998 World Cup match between the Netherlands and Argentina:
I'm not really up on the rules for soccer, but I assume Dennis Bergkamp did something bad? The way the commentator was screaming his name, you'd think the commentator was the hero in an action movie who just returned home to find out that Dennis Bergkamp had murdered his entire family and left a snarky note about it.
You are very wise to pickup on that Jack...if you watch the video closely, one could argue that Dennis Bergkamp was offsides on that play. In soccer, you have to have one defender and the goalie in front of you before you can receive a pass from a teammate. Dennis Bergkamp is very close to being behind the defender when we receives the pass that leads to that goal. Watch it again and stop the video at the :49 mark. Bergkamps right foot and part of his body are behind the defender and the ball has not reached him yet.
I'm not a fan of the Netherlands or Argentina so I could care less who won this game, I am merely pointing out that an argument could be made that he was offsides.
Sorry, I disagree. The offside rule states that there must be at least one defender between the foremost attacking player and goal - at the point the ball is struck!
So the deciding moment is the precise point that the pass is made, the moment the assisting player launches the pass.
If you are quicker than the defender and manage to out run him, whilst the ball is in the air, into some space then that is allowed.
Bergkamp was onside when the pass was launched and he out ran the defender to get to it. Goal stands. Soz to be a soccer douche!
I can't watch the Bergkamp video. Thanks, GEMA!
I've seen it before--at Mal's urging--but it's been a while.
The best thing about soccer is that a one goal lead is considered insurmountable.
Like I said Dalty, I could care less, I was only pointing out that the argument could be made. Just because someone is wrong doesn't prevent them from arguing a point. Just look at American politicians.
It has been years since I have played soccer and I never played under International rules, only American HS rules (although I doubt the offsides rules vary). I didn't remember that offsides is determined at the moment when the ball is kicked.
Like I said, sorry for being a soccer douche!
One goal is never insurmountable. You have been watching the wrong soccer Quasar!
If you let the other team get two goals ahead, and you might as well rip open your jugular and bleed all your shame out on the field.
Liverpool v AC Milan - Champions League Final. Greatest football comeback ever.
They came back from 1 goal down. IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!
My favorite thing is when a college football team from an extremely well-funded sports mill posing as an institution of higher learning beats the everlovin' shit out of a podunk team from a different division. What's that Oklahoma? You just beat Duke 512-0? Wow. You must be really, really good. I'm sure you'll win the BSC Championship game against [Insert SEC Team Here].
Careful Goiter, Jack is going to jump all over that post because it piqued his interest.
What exactly is possing? According to the urban dictionary:
"comes from the old-fashioned method of washing clothes in a wash tub. the clothes were pounded and swirled around with the poss stick."
So were they washin' their tights?
Is the BSC Championship a new acronym? Beau's Shower Cream? (I shudder to think what this could be.)
I poke fun because we can.
Thanks for catching that, Dr. Ake. I corrected it. It's now "posing," which is what I meant it to be to begin with.
With any luck, the piquing of Jack's interest peaked yesterday. Maybe he'll just peek at these last few posts, and nothing will appear to be out of the ordinary.
