Bokchoi Cowboy's Jakester memorial...or monument...heck, what do I call this?

Posted by Bokchoi Cowboy on Thursday, March 28, 2013

I tried to post to the "Dedicated to Jason (Jakester)" thread but it would not save my comment, so I thought I would try to make a new thread. If my comments do show up at a later time I appologize. I will try to re-write what was lost there when I hit the "save" button... I found out about Jakester's/Jason's passing via Bill the Pony, aka 20th Century Bill. Dredged up this message board and read the postings. Tried to post a comment but found even though I could log-in, I could not post a comment. Advised Patrick and he got something fixed...but it didn't really do the job...so... Finding out Jakester had passed was a hard hit, as I see it was to all of you. It was one of those things that just seemed impossible, not real at all. Unfortunately it is very real and we have lost someone very special. Even though I have not been keeping up with the goings on in the CA message board I never forgot the personalities or relationships I had made over the years. I always kept everyone in my heart...you guys really made a big difference in my life over the years I was active here. To hear Jakester is gone is like suddenly missing a piece of my heart. My condolences to Jakester's/Jason's family and all of you. Last night I had a conversation with my daughter about Jakester. She let me ramble on for a long time in a stream of consciousness narrative, recalling all sorts of memories about Jakester. I recalled many of the threads that he was involved with, many of the discussions, many jokes, and a lot of photoshopped pictures. I remembered how Jakester could derail a hard-core political discussion by breaking in to the conversation with a comment such as requesting everyone to vote his penis in to the presidency, or how many times he and I had a religious-war level discussion on the topic of Guinness, and the brilliance of the Jakester/Jacksparrow comedy duo. Even though he tried to portray a persona of the online sex-crazed deviant dirtbag, he was a man of great intelligence, compassion, and humor. Everyone really knew who the real Jakester was...and he will be greatly missed.

My idea of a memorial/monument from me for Jakester was to repost photoshopped pictures I made with him in it.  Of course, these photos are pretty unflattering, quite a bit off-color, and perhaps even a bit debasing.  But since this was one of the main ways he and I interracted, and since I received nothing but praise and humerous acceptance of them from Jakester then they will be posted.  It is all part of my memory of him, which I share with you:

There were some problems with the site. I think they're fixed.

Well, there's still problems with the site. The specific ones that were keeping you from responding appear to be fixed, though.

Whether or not you wind up reposting this in the other thread, thanks for contributing to the love. We all miss him.

Dalty/Moneybags/Randy Ewok/Jizz Master Flunk is on vacation, so the site feels particularly dead at the moment.

I'd start some threads, but I'm more of a thread finisher.

Like I said over at the mania site, I am so floored by this news.  Jakester was a fixture around these parts.  I don't post much anymore but I do check in every once in a while and when I did I could always count on a few delightfully nasty comments that always made me smile.  I'm gonna miss that. The pics are spot on Cowboy and bring back loads of memories.

 RIP Jason.

Thanks for the pics, Cowboy. I'd forgotten some of those and they made me laugh in appropriately, just like Jake did.

I've had those pics in my head for the past several years... thought I would never see them again.

Now it will take another decade to get over them again!  But thanks for that stroll down memory lane Bokchoi.  Jake was an excellent sport, with one of the best senses of humour of anyone I ever encountered online.

Btw I still have issues with posting.  I need Firefox to start a thread, IE to respond.  Hyperlinks, pics are now out of the question.  But that's neither here nor there.

Have you tried Chrome? I'm able to do it all with Chrome. Haven't tried it with any other browsers to see how they're working.

Not as yet.  I will see how it works for you first.

Great pics!

Someone remind me the source of Jakester's avatar and its meaning?

You mean the avatar he was using on this site? Wasn't it just the poster image from Carpenter's Prince of Darkness?

I remember getting it mixed up with the cover for Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness when I was younger.

Or are you talking about the face with the ball gag? It's from the very last image Bokchoi's posted. Jakester posted the original in the CA 1.0 Lounge way back when we were sharing pictures of ourself for Mouse's Yahoo! photo album. (Maybe it wasn't Mouse's. For some reason, the name "SpoonBoy3" [or "SpoonBoy" with some other number after it] keeps invading my brain.)

I think the original, ball-gag free version was a picture from Jakester's senior trip, or maybe it was from right after he graduated from college. Whatever the case, it was already a pretty old picture when Jakester posted it.

OMG I love this pictures. They made me laugh, which I so very much needed right now.

I actually have no idea where the ball gag picture came from. I've always been afraid to ask. If I had to guess, I'd say it was from college. He was up to some crazy shenanigans back then.

I wonder if that CA 1.0 photo album still exists somewhere on the interwebz.

As much as I love the photoshopped pics, I'm going to hijack this thread and post a pic of Jake when he was in college - sans ball gag

I think I posted this to his Facebook so some of you may have seen it, but I realize not all of you are FB friends with him.

And then there's this one, from his senior high school yearbook:

He was on a science club field trip. He was a such a dork, and I loved him for it.

Feel free to photoshop the hell out of these. He'd love it.

Carnivale 2.0 is back because she made a deal with Patrick while strung out on Unisom.

The ball gag shot is just a deft 'Shop. the ball gag itself was superimposed onto the shot of Jakey with the water at his back. The original (sans ball gag) still exists somewhere on the web.

So, as promised, I found an awesome sunset onboard (just off the Pacific Coast of Mexico) and I grabbed a pint of Guiness from the poolside bar and went to a quiet side of the boat to toast Jakester.

I did the "One for me, one for my homies" thing where I drank half the pint, and poured the other half over the side as a sort of tribute at sea.

Only because I am an idiot I did it on the windward side of the boat.  The couple sitting on their balcony two decks down were severely unimpressed.  So I did what all self-respecting people would do in such circumstances.  I ran!

I think Jakester would have approved.

....says "Kill Bond, NOW!"
