Brangelina legal shennanigans

Apparently, according to somebody running a press tally, according to the UK press in the last 3 years Brad and Angelina have:

-Been married twice.
-Split 20 times.
-Brad's gone back to Aniston 8 times.
-Aniston has been over Brad 3 times.
-But she's been pining for him 16 times.
-She was pregnant with his baby last August (but she doesn't seem to be).
-Brad refused to have any more kids with Angeline, 5 months before she gave birth to the twins.
-He started to drink last January, and March and somehow again after Xmas.

So it is fair to say that nobody really knows what is going on and half of it at least is made up bollocks.

After all this they have decided to sue the UK Sunday tabloid, The News Of The World. Why are they doing this?

I am no legal expert, but an interesting point of law has been put forward. That it kills two birds with one stone.

As US law is so different, celebs have virtually no way to sue over gossip allegations in the USA.

However the News of The World is big enough and rich enough to be worth taking to court in the UK, and it is Murdoch owned so legal action is unlikely to upset that many people.

Here is where it get's interesting.

If they win in the UK, then the game changes as apparently in US law any US publications publishing these claims, proved in UK legal process to be false, would be deemed guilty of malice (defamation) and Jolie-Pitt could successfully sue for millions.

So not only do they stop the rumours, they also stop any future gossip. It also could rewrite the rule book about how US celeb gossip rags seemingly print what they want without any comeback.

Interesting.

The press seems intent on painting Aniston as the poor, slighted girl-next-door for whom things just never seem to go right. Poor, poor Jennifer Aniston. Brad left. Then Vince. Then that model guy. Then John Mayer. Then, possibly, Gerard Butler.

Maybe she's just an awful bitch guys can't stand to be around for more than a year or two. Maybe Bradley Pitt showed amazing fortitude by sticking with her awful bitch ass as long as he did.

But what do I know? I've never met the woman. I'm sure she's good people.

It's all image. I imagine Jolie's "People" put a lot of effort into deflecting from the fact she stole another woman's hubby.

Ever noticed how she could be considered a sort of "Fame Succubus"? She attaches herself to a guy, then leaves him and kind of takes his fame and adds it to her own, elevating herself above him?

Sorry, I became distracted. It was the point of law and what it may mean for the US Gossip journalist profession that could be worth watching here.

I suppose California, itself, does a fair job of reining in the paparazzi. The paparazzi rarely seems to make it beyond the state line.
