Long ago, when I signed up for Xbox Live, I used an email address which I no longer have access to.
Now, when I went to get some points so I could purchase some stuff, Live tells me they don't recognize my computer and sent a confirmation email. Of course, that email goes to the address I can no longer get to. I've updated my profile and everything, but the email still goes to the obsolete email.
On the page, there's a link stating click this if you no longer have access to this email address. I do that, and what happens? Microsoft says they'll wipe all information from my account, but it will take a month. And how will I confirm my computer after that??
Stupid Microsoft. I am trying to give you money, and you're making it impossible.

They'll still get their money. Probably more than you were originally going to give them because they'll tell you that you need an upgrade to access your account information.
