I'm in Minnesota. While we call ourselves part of the midwest, we're really in the Northern Plains region, well north of the devastation down there, thankfully. As is kah, for that matter.
Definitely glad to hear the Goiter Gang is all right though. I thought of you guys when I read about the tornados this weekend.
Closest I have ever been to a tornado is in the "Twister" ride at Universal Orlando. I imagine it is somewhat different to the real thing. For a start, it didn't make me dead!
Twisters were about 130 miles southwest of us here in Chicago, although we had crazy winds and lots of rain. At least we still have power, many of my friends in Michigan are without.
One of these days it will sink in that neglet is living in Chicago.
There's a chance Jubbers and I will be in Chicago sometime early next year.

The Goiter Gang would be an offensive band name.
It was pretty windy in Ontario, if anyone cares.
But not windy enough to topple Rob Ford! Thank you, I'll be here all week.
The closest tornado to me touched down about 50 miles east of St. Louis. It's not the closest that a tornado has touched down to here.
It was pretty weird. I heard on the news that morning that there was a tornado watch. When I went on weather.com around 11 a.m., the map was showing a thin band of clouds moving quickly eastward - didn't seem like much. Then around 11:30 this dense rain started pouring down. Looking out the window, I couldn't really see much past the glass. It was as if someone had drawn a curtain. And it was all over in about 5-10 minutes. We usually don't get that kind of weather this time of year.
Cyclone in Sardinia today as well. This weather!!!! I blame Global Warming. Everything is Global Warming's fault.

Let me know when and where and I will buy you lunch. $4 at Subway!
What's Chicago like these days??? Do they still do good pizza?
When / why might you be relocating Goiter?
"English as a Foreign Language" type gig?
They are screaming out for that in Vietnam as well. I know a few people who have done it in a few places and love it. Good gig!
Don't you have to be able to speak Japanese?
Jubbers has three years of Japanese under her belt, and I have a black belt in Yoshukai Karate. We have both bases covered!
I'm pretty sure there are only two bases.
I'll have to learn Japanese. I'm pretty decent at picking Western languages up if I put a little effort in it. I don't know whether or not this talent will extend to picking up an Eastern language. I guess I'll find out if I get (or Jubbers gets, or, even better, we both get) the job.
The putting-a-little-effort-in-it part is the scary part.
Another scary part: if we go, we'll probably have to go to some sort of store immediately and buy baby stuff. We'll need diapers. I don't know anything about Japanese diaper sizes.
My cousin spent a year teaching ESL in Korea, and I don't think he knew any Korean before he left. He did fine, but since I think he was escaping a bad divorce I think he had extra motivation.

If you happen to like two tons of cheese between light layers of crust and sauce, then yes, I suppose the pizza is good. I don't particularly care for it, but otherwise am enjoying city life ... Specialty cinema, concerts, comedy clubs, Shakespeare theater, opera... All in all, a great place to be empty nesters.
Of course, ask me again on the middle of January and I may say different.
Jubbers pointed out to me that KV moved to Pennsylvania. I had forgotten.
Jakester would have caught it.

Mal, Jubbers, KingVoyeur, and I are all in Missouri, but Missouri appears to be fine. Mango's the only one of us I know to be in Illinois. I'm sure Facebook will say if something's wrong his way.
