Kathy Bates is now in the cast. She'll play what Variety describes as the no-nonsense tutor hired by Sandra Bullock's character to teach the Michael Oher character.

A movie based on the true story of NFL draft prospect Michael Oher is being made by Alcon Entertainment and has Sandra Bullock attached to star in it.

The Blindside is the title of the soon-to-be-made film and it's based on a non-fiction book by Michael Lewis (The Blind Side: Evolution of the Game). The story follows troubled teenager Oher, a young man whose biological parents didn't provide him with a nuturing home. After performing poorly in early school and living on the streets, Oher got a second chance at a better life when a family that he had no personal connection with offered to give him a home. Today Oher is finishing off his senior year of playing football for the University of Mississippi and is widely considered to be one of the top picks in next year's NFL draft.

Bullock will play the mother of the suburban family that takes Oher in. John Lee Hancock (The Alamo) adapted Lewis' book into screenplay format and will direct the show.
