A resident in Shreveport, Louisiana writes in to Coming Attractions to share her experience in dealing with the Butter film crew:
"The production company had their trailers and the trucks they were going to use in the used car lot in the movie - directly across the street from my house in the parking lot of the Shreve City Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA. If I had not come out of my house and seen all the trailers and trucks I would not have known they were there - they were so quiet and respectful of our neighborhood. I was so impressed with the entire crew. Kudos to them all!"

Ty Burrell is using some of the attention he's getting from starring in the inaugural season of ABC's Modern Family to take a job during the TV show's off-season time. He's in talks to play the husband of Jennifer Garner's character in Butter, a man who's won the championship title for his small town's annual butter carving competition for the past 15 concecutive years. When the man decides to not compete in this year's contest his wife (Garner) still wants to enjoy all of the attention she's grown accustomed to having, and so decides to train a newcomer to the "sport".
Some of Burrell's past roles include National Treasure: Book of Secrets, 2004's Dawn of the Dead and Black Hawk Down.

New life has been sunk into rookie writer Jason Micallef's Butter. His screenplay, which ranked third on last year's Black List (a roll call of unproduced original screenplays that industry peers have deemed among the best written in the past 12 months), is now getting some help rolling forward with the announcement that Jennifer Garner is attached to star in the film and may also produce.
Micallef's screenplay centers on a midwest-raised woman who finds that she has a talent to carve beautiful images from out of butter. Upon entering a butter-carving competition the protagonist finds herself an unexpected rival in the form of the wife of the retired butter-carving champ.
"I wanted to do a political satire," Micallef told The Hollywood Reporter, "and I was looking for some venue that people take very seriously but is also ridiculous -- like politics -- but at the same time is really visual."
Michael De Luca is already onboard as a producer along with Mandate Films' Nathan Kahane. Garner and Juliana Janes of Vandalia Films are working out their contracts to join the producers' circle.
