Former 20th Century Fox COO Peter Chernin is now involved as a producer on The Deep Blue Goodbye, an adaptation of John D. MacDonald's first Travis McGee mystery. Fox owns the rights to all 19 of MacDonald's McGee books and hopes to get Goodbye into production as a possible franchise for Leonardo DiCaprio. The actor is also a producer on the project.
Variety states that the present draft by Dana Stevens (For the Love of the Game) is attracting interest from solid directors. [Full story]
