Screenwriter Shane Salerno just sold his spec script Doomsday Protocol to 20th Century Fox for seven figures (that's industry speak meaning that the writer got paid at least one million dollars for his idea.) In their coverage of the sale The Hollywood Reporter calls Salerno's plot "an epic science fiction adventure in the vein of The Seven Samurai involving a group of aliens and humans with various abilities who are brought together to save Earth."

Salerno's past writing credits include Alien vs. Predator: Requiem, Ghost Rider, the remake of Shaft and Armageddon.
