The studio has now announced that it will bring The Equalizer to the big screen on April 11, 2014.

Paul Haggis is in talks to write the screenplay for the big screen version of The Equalizer. If the Oscar-winning scribe (for Million Dollar Baby and Crash) does write the project he'll be reuniting with Russell Crowe (who's still attached to play the lead.) Haggis just directed the star in The Next Three Days, a thriller out next year.

Mired in development hell, a big screen version of the CBS series The Equalizer has gotten some much-needed heat. Russell Crowe has attached himself to play the main role of Robert McCall, a retired covert ops agent out to right the wrongs done to common citizens. Mace Neufeld (The Hunt for Red October) and Alex Siskin (Mr. Deeds) are the producers. The project was set up at The Weinstein Company but is now without a studio. [Full story]
