New Line Cinema has won the screen rights to Epic Games' best-selling Gears of War video game. Epic commissioned Collateral screenwriter Stuart Beattie to come up with a 21-page story treatment for a Gears movie. In a perfect world the second Gears video game and the movie would come out at the same time but no one at either Epic or New Line are willing to bet the house on it for now.
The film's producers are Marty Bown and Wyck Godfrey. Game designer Cliff Bleszinski will also be an executive producer on the film.
