Stephen Chow has changed his mind and now will not direct the movie citing creative differences. The actor who will play Kato and the movie's director have been found -- and they're both the same guy. Shaolin Soccer/Kung Fu Hustle's Stephen Chow will play the Hornet's sidekick and also direct the movie.
"I'm excited to be taking on The Green Hornet - obviously, I've been a huge fan of the show since I was a kid," Chow told The Associated Press. "The idea of stepping into Bruce Lee's shoes as Kato is both humbling and thrilling, and to get the chance to direct the project as my American movie debut is simply a dream come true."

After years of having Hollywood's hunkiest actors considering to wear the green eye mask of the Hornet, it came as a surprise when news broke today that one of comedy's hottest new stars would be playing the crimefighter. The star in question is Seth Rogen of Knocked Up fame and he'll also write the script along with his Superbad partner Evan Goldberg. Sony has announced a June 25, 2010 release for The Green Hornet movie.
