Dead Snow writer/director Tommy Wirkola is writing the horror/comedy Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters for his next movie. The project is in development at Gary Sanchez Productions, the film company set up by Anchorman director Adam McKay and his star Will Ferrell who took to making a hybrid scary laffer in the mold of Evil Dead 2 or Shaun of the Dead.
"The idea is, they've grown up and they hunt witches," McKay told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's a hybrid sort of old-timey feeling, yet there's pump-action shotguns. Modern technology but in an old style. We heard it and we were just like, 'That's a freakin' franchise! You could make three of those!'"
Wirkola will begin crafting the screenplay shortly. [Full story]
