Our first look at what's in store for us when Immortals is released has itself been released. It's like 300 and Clash of the Titans hooked up and decided to have a baby (which is not necessarily a bad thing.)

The producers of War of the Gods are now in talks with Henry Cavill to play the role of Theseus. The 25-year-old British actor has a recurring role as the brother-in-law to King Henry VIII in The Tudors and he was a frontrunner for the parts of Superman, Batman and James Bond in the latest relaunchings of those film franchises.
Filming is still slated to begin around the end of the year or shortly after the beginning of 2009. Variety reports that the movie has been budgeted for less than $100 million since the film's many FX scenes will be shot against a greenscreen à la Zack Snyder's 300 or Robert Rodriguez's Sin City.

War of the Gods, an effects laden action movie set in ancient Greece and featuring an array of fantastical beings fighting against men and Olympian deities, is now in development. Relativity Media purchased the spec script by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides and will finance the picture which the company hopes will be shooting before cameras before the end of the year. Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) is already onboard to direct the picture while 300 producers Mark Canton and Gianni Nunnari will produce along with Ryan Kavanaugh.
"Gods, titans, warriors and a fantastic script. An incredibly visionary filmmaker like Tarsem and a partner like Relativity who fought and won already in a battle in getting the package that everybody wanted," Nunnari was quoted as saying in Variety.
Canton told the industry mag "Gianni and I both love epic mythology, and we have worked hard to find another project that will challenge the senses and once again take audiences into a fresh new cinematic world."
The story follows the young warrior prince Theseus as he commands an army made up of humans against an evil force that has the strength of demons and titans on its side. The Greek gods will also be involved in the melee.
