The new issue of Entertainment Weekly features a cover photo of Iron Man (RD Jr.), Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) and our first look at the Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson). In the article that accompanies the imagery inside the pages of EW, there's quotes from Downey about how his character is getting more fleshed out while not losing his humor, like for example being given a pet cockatoo "who I talk to and get drunk with as I make my suit," said the actor.
The decision to recast the role of Rhodey is also addressed by Marvel Studios chairman Kevin Feige and Don Cheadle. "We address it head on in the movie in one exchange," explains Cheadle. "We're not trying to fool people."
Also, there's some illumination as to how Black Widow is being introduced into the Iron Man movie universe. In the film she's the new assistant for Stark since Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow's character) has been promoted to CEO of Stark Industries. While there will be romantic tension generated by the triangle, it won't be too crude that kids can't come see the film. "We're horny," joked Downey. "Not, like, can't-bring-your-kids horny, but just...horny."Comment on this Scoop (0)

Collider has published details from an insider about a cameo from Marvel Comics' writer Stan Lee in the second Iron Man movie. As you may recall, Lee made one of his many quick appearances in a Marvel movie in the first Iron Man where he played a guy that Tony Stark recognized as Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. The non-spoiler news is that once again Lee will be playing someone famous that Stark meets during the course of Iron Man II, but if you want to know the specifics you'll have to hit Collider.- Collider. "I'm having the time of my life!" Mickey Rourke told Empire magazine about his latest job playing an Iron Man supervillain. "It's been really brutal, because my Iron Man suit weighs 23lb. It's sort of a half-suit, with half my skin showing, with lots of Russian tattoos, because [Whiplash is just] out of a Russian-zone prison."
Also talking to the magazine was director Jon Favreau about the character arc that Robert Downey Jr. is facing in the sequel. "[Tony Stark is] expected to be a role model and I don't think he's ready to be one. He's under a great deal of pressure and when you're under pressure, I think you find outlets for that," Favreau said. "That's one of the tensions of the film: it's one thing to say you're Iron Man, and another thing to actually become Iron Man."
And Favs also confirms that we're getting to see James Rhodes in his War Machine armor. "Rhodesy is definitely stepping up in this film. Let me put it this way: Tony's not the only person with technology in the film."- Empire. Comment on this Scoop (0)

An enlisted Edwards AFB airman's article about the Iron Man II filming has been published on the Air Force's Print News Today site. In addition to letting Air Force personnel know that the superhero sequel shot at the base the article also has quotes from director Jon Favreau, producer Denis Stewart and Colonel William Thornton, 412th Test Wing commander at the base.
"I really love the hospitality we've gotten here," Favreau said in the piece. "I'm grateful they've let us shoot here and when I saw the assets they've let us shoot and how cooperative they've been it makes me satisfied because they enjoyed the experience last time and they feel we've depicted them fairly."
About 60 members of the base were used for the scenes and some will be seen in the film. Two photos accompany the story showing Robert Downey Jr. and Favreau meeting with the base's commanders.
