Trailer #2: Man of Steel

The second trailer for the new Superman movie coming out in 2013, Man of Steel, has arrived.

Thematically it's not that different from the first trailer we saw back in July. The feelings are the same: Clark expressing his doubt about his identity, Clark's father trying to offer advice to his adopted son, a grown Clark trying to find his role in the world. The images are different in the new trailer but they seem to be from the same scenes we witnessed in trailer #1.

All that said, this is an awesome trailer.

Trailer: Man of Steel

The first trailer, a teaser, for the new Superman movie Man of Steel is finally online. And there are two versions.

Visually, both Man of Steel trailers are the same but they feature different narration. On one version we hear Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner) speaking to Clark/Superman, and in the other it's Jor-El (Russell Crowe) speaking to his son.

Rumor: Description of first Man of Steel trailer

It's been a while since CA's published a honest-to-goodness rumor, something that I don't know may be true or not. That's the way things were done a dozen years ago on movie websites, and while the ratio of successes to failures was reasonable, not every movie rumor turned out to be the truth.

A paparazzi photographer stationed in the cold autumn days in Vancouver took five photographs of Russell Crowe wearing his Kryptonian costume, waiting to film scenes for Man of Steel. The new, 21st century Jor-El threads are markedly different from the white one-piece costume worn by Marlon Brando in 1979's Superman: The Movie.

Amy Adams is Superman's new Lois Lane

Warner Bros. has announced who will play the star reporter for The Daily Planet and the love interest for the last Kryptonian, and it's Amy Adams. The 36-year-old, Oscar-nominated actress will play the part of Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's Superman movie. For her 70 years of existence, Lois Lane has been portrayed as a perseverant, unstoppable journalist who becomes the center of Clark Kent's world while Superman becomes the center of hers.

Zack Snyder: "There's been no other Superman movies."

The director of the new Superman movie spoke about the differences that his movie will have versus the last film to feature the Man of Steel, Superman Returns. For critics that felt that Superman Returns was a slave to Richard Donner's 1979 Superman film, the news will likely be greeted with cautious optimism.

Diane Lane cast as Superman's Earth mother

While it's still up in the air as to who will play Superman's adoptive father and the Man of Steel's adversary in Zack Snyder's new Superman movie, we now have our second confirmed addition to the project: Diane Lane will play Martha Kent, the mother to Clark/Kal-El.

We've got actress rumored to be up for a beefy female part, and we've got word that Kevin Costner is being considered to play Superman's adoptive father from Earth. When word broke online that there had been "heightened interest" from the producers of Warner Bros. new Superman movie to cast Kevin Costner in their film, at the time no one knew what the part would be. A few hours later we had the answer from a different website: according to Latino Review's source, Costner is playing Superman's adoptive Earth father Jonathan "Pa" Kent.
