The first trailer for Lars Von Trier's Melancholia (the Planet prefix has been dropped) has arrived. Our first reaction is that it's quintessential Von Triers movie material: heavy drama, deep chasms of personal angst, the suggestion that emotional tipping points are about to be reached. Then he goes a step further and decides to throw a whole planet at the nice rich people.
What do you think of this first look at Melancholia?

For his next film Antichrist filmmaker Lars von Trier will write and director Planet Melancholia, a psychological disaster story budgeted at $7 million dollars. The controversial director is completing the script and anticipates to start filming next summer in Germany and Sweden. The film is being scheduled for a premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011.
When pressed for more details about the new movie's story, von Trier would only reply, "No more happy endings!"
A slightly more detailed answer came from Peter Aalbaek Jensen, one of the film's business partners. He said that Planet Melancholia would have the trademark gripping visuals found in von Trier's other work like Antichrist but that the theme of the picture would be "romantic, in a Lord Byron sort of way."
