Comic book writer/screenwriter Stuart Paul is getting a crack at adapting The Nye Incidents. He's just been hired by RKO to work on the project, adapting Streiber and Spector's comic book series to a film script.
Paul wrote a DC Comics/WildStorm mini-series called Ides of Blood, which was published last year. He's also written a movie script called Terminal Point which is in development at Strike Entertainment.

It looks like this project has departed Warner Bros and is now being developed by RKO Pictures. Director Todd Lincoln remains attached with the project along with producer Daniel Alter. Creator Whitley Streiber will be a consultant on the movie. A screenwriter is being sought.

In an exclusive interview with the man attached to direct The Nye Incidents movie, Todd Lincoln tells Shock Till You Drop a host of fun stuff about the project including why he was attracted to it, how he's been working with Whitley Streiber, why Dark Castle was drawn to making a movie from Streiber's comic and what kind of mood Lincoln wants his scary movie to have.
"With this subject, we want to get away from the go-to rural locations or outer space and really capture the terror of what a close encounter or abduction or mutilation would be like," explains Lincoln. "The moment in Signs that everyone talks about is that home video footage of the birthday party and the alien quickly moves past the window. I want to do a whole movie that feels like that moment."

Warner Bros. has picked up the film rights to The Nye Incidents and is asking Dark Castle Entertainment to develop the property. Based on the five-issue comic book series published by Devil's Due Publishing last year and written by bestselling author and UFO contactee Whitley Streiber, the comic centers on a female medical examiner who is investigating a rash of murders where the victims have been mutilated in a bizarre fashion. The examiner's investigation leads her to the UFO community but the possible solution for who (or what) is committing the murders puts her life in jeopardy.
Todd Lincoln is attached to helm the feature with Joel Silver, Andrew Rona, Alex Heineman and Daniel Alter producing. [Full story]
