Gladiator screenwriter John Logan has been selected to adapt Justin Cronin's horror novel The Passage into a screen story. Ridley Scott is attached to direct the film for Fox. [Full story]

Fox 2000 has bought the screen rights to The Passage, a horror novel to be published by Ballantine. Written by Justin Cronin under the pen name Jordan Ainsley, the book tells of the horrors that are unleashed when a group of terminally ill test subjects are bitten by vampire bats from South America. The ill patients seemingly become fully healthy but soon after they begin to exhibit vampire-like cravings and become deadly.

Ballantine bought the publishing rights to Cronin's book fro $3.75 million dollars after reading the first 400 pages of the 1,200 page novel.
