The cast of Percy Jackson has grown by two, adding Rosario Dawson and Steve Coogan to its line-up of Greek gods.
The duo are playing the husband and wife pair known as Hades and Persephone. According to Greek legend Hades is the ruler of the underworld. When he sought a wife he wooed a human woman named Persephone but she couldn't bring herself to be away from her family forever in Hades' dark underground kingdom, so for half the year she returns to the Earth to visit with her relatives. In the Percy Jackson film Dawson's Persephone will be imprisoned and also be a bit of a flirt with Percy's best friend Grover.
Lensing is happening right now in Vancouver, B.C. on the Percy Jackson film, the first in what 20th Century Fox hopes will ultimately be five Percy Jackson films. Logan Lerman plays the title character, the half-human, half-Greek god son of Poseidon (Kevin McKidd). Rounding out the cast are Pierce Brosnan (Chiron), Uma Thurman (Medusa), Sean Bean (Zeus) and Melina Kanakaredes (Athena). The film is set for release on February 12, 2010.- Entertainment Weekly.
