Wednesday, March 27, 2013 will be the release date for Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, the second Percy Jackson film. The date was announced yesterday by the movie studio.

Fox 2000 is moving ahead with plans to make a second Percy Jackson film by hiring Diary of a Wimpy Kid director Thor Freudenthal to develop and shoot the sequel.

Since the release of The Lightning Thief last year, there's been little news about whether a second Percy Jackson movie would ever happen. Star Logan Lerman is still under an option so if Fox wants him back, he'll return to play Poseidon's son. Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Agent Cody Banks) were hired last March to work on the sequel script.
