Screenwriter Jeff Nathanson has been commissioned to develop and write the screenplay for Pirates of the Caribbean 5. Details on what Nathanson's storyline would be about were not revealed, nor was an anticipated release date for the sequel.
Nathanson's best known work is likely the screenplay for Steven Spielberg's Catch Me if You Can. He's also written the script for Speed 2: Cruise Control, The Terminal, Rush Hour 3, and most recently, Tower Heist.

The script is in for Pirates of the Caribbean 5. So says The Hollywood Reporter which states that Terry Rossio turned in the draft this past weekend to his bosses at Walt Disney Pictures. The magazine also states that their ears have heard Disney would like On Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall back for his second sail with Captain Jack Sparrow. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is already a given.
But what about Johnny Depp, Mr. Pirate himself? He's the one that wants to put the brakes on for a bit. While he still wants to make more Pirates movies, "It's not something where I would say, 'Let's shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012,'" the actor tells the Reporter. "We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me."
