A young boy named Sosuke discovers a goldfish in a bottle on the beach and takes it in as a pet he names Ponyo. Later the boy is shocked when his fish changes herself into the form of a five-year-old girl and reveals that she is daughter of a powerful wizard. As Ponyo's father search for his lost daughter and threatens the safety of the world, Sosukue and Ponyo set out to find Ponyo's father and save the planet from environmental catastrophe.
