Now there is a second movie that uses Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice as the template for an offbeat retelling of the tale. What do you get when you take the love-smitten Elizabeth Bennet from Austin's romance novel and insert an otherworldly being that just wants to slice and dice the ruffled noblemen and ladies? Why you get Rocket Pictures' Pride and Predator of course!

70s glam rocker Elton John owns Rocket Pictures and he'll receive an executive producer credit on the movie, now scheduled to start rolling in London later this year. The screenplay was written by Andrew Kemble, John Pape and Will Clark using Austin's original novel as their foundation. "It felt like a fresh and funny way to blow apart the done-to-death Jane Austen genre by literally dropping this alien into the middle of a costume drama, where he stalks and slashes to horrific effect," Furnish told Variety about his project.

No details concerning the "Predator" were revealed in the Variety story but we're fairly confident that the hostile E.T. won't look like 20th Century Fox's Predator creature.

The other strange film project that uses Pride and Prejudice as its springboard is the plainly named Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Based upon the parody novel to be published in April, rumor has it that the film rights have been locked down by a company and that the film's producers are looking to Natalie Portman to play the Elizabeth role.
