See the Skyfall opening title sequence
Now that the 23rd James Bond movie Skyfall is in theaters in North America, we're able to share in the enthusiasm that the lucky people in the U.K. had a couple of weeks back when the movie was released in European cinemas. With a crushing $88.4 million dollar opening weekend (the best ever for a Bond film) and very strong weekday grosses, Skyfall will almost certainly pass the highest grossing 007 picture to date, Quantum of Solace, which enjoyed a total accum of $168 million dollars at the domestic box office.

Review: Skyfall
[This early review of Skyfall is submitted by CA reader Dalton's Chin Dimple, an avid fan of James Bond]
I am going to try and remain as spoiler-free as possible and not discuss anything that hasn’t already been revealed in teasers, trailers and the cast interviews for Skyfall. I will also avoid mentioning anything that would take away your enjoyment of the film. Let me say straight off that I could see this James Bond movie being divisive. I think people will either love it or hate it. I don’t think many people will come out in the middle.

Infographic: 50 years of James Bond
This month marks the 50th anniversary since the release of Dr. No, the first James Bond movie. During the past five decades we've seen 25 James Bond movies released, two of which are considered outside of the canon that most Bond fans follow, those being the 1967 comedy version of Casino Royale and the 1983 Sean Connery picture Never Say Never Again. And with current Bond actor Daniel Craig appearing in the most recent Bond film (Skyfall), there's been renewed interest in the British secret agent and his government issued license to kill.

Ben Whishaw confirmed as 007's new Q
Since the reboot of the James Bond franchise with Casino Royale and the casting of Daniel Craig as 007, there has been no quartermaster for the gadgets of MI6. The character of Q, as he's been called throughout the Bond series of movies, will finally rememerge in Skyfall and be played by Ben Whishaw. Today the producers of Skyfall and MGM finally confirmed what was widely assumed: that Whishaw will play the new Q in the film, and the first photo of the actor as Q was also presented.

Trailer: Skyfall
The first trailer (a teaser) for Skyfall has debuted online via the official James Bond website. After watching said trailer, what can be seen in it matches perfectly with the leaked trailer description report heard about last month.
My first impression of what director Sam Mendes is doing is a good one. This has the promise of a heavier Bond adventure. The exotic world locales look spendid thanks to the brilliant cinematography of Roger Deakins and Daniel Craig looks like he's in impressive 007 form.

Skyfall trailer described
If you were fortunate enough to receive an invite by MGM to a special location yesterday in Los Vegas, you would have been the first members of the public to see the first trailer for the next James Bond movie Skyfall.
Accounts of the trailer have been appearing across the web, with no one source clearly emerging, so I'm simply going to mirror what others have been repeating. If it's accurate, this is what the Skyfall trailer will have when it plays in front of showing of Men in Black III, opening on May 25.

First official Skyfall photo shows grizzled James Bond
Lo and behold it's the first officially released still from the 23rd James Bond movie, Skyfall. And in the photograph we see Daniel Craig looking a little different from his typical James Bond appearance; missing is the tuxedo and clean-cut killer visage replaced by a stubble-adorned 007 that looks more in an environment from a Jason Bourne or Tom Clancy adventure.

Javier Bardem applies for a licence to kill James Bond
In its second big casting scoop of the day, Deadline is reporting that Javier Bardem has been offered a "starring role" in the next James Bond movie. The site is very cautious to offer any details on what Bardem's character or involvement could be, but it's an easy guess to make that any major actor starring in a James Bond movie would likely play the adversary to Daniel Craig's 007.

The 23rd James Bond movie has come back to life. MGM made the announcement today that the as-yet untitled new 007 movie will begin filming in late 2011, for a November 9, 2012 release.
But something has changed.

MGM files for bankruptcy but aims for more James Bond movies
Yesterday in a Manhattan federal court, battered movie studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer filed for Chapter 11 protection. The beleaguered MGM had been approached by rival studio Lionsgate in a buyout bid orchestrated by billionaire Carl Icahn but the management of MGM decided it wasn't the best offer to take.

Writers selected for 23rd James Bond movie
For the next James Bond adventure there will be new and old blood working on the story. Today EON Productions and MGM announced the writers for Bond 23, as the project is being refered to right now. The scribes are Peter Morgan (the new blood), a twice Oscar-nominated screenwriter whose credits include Frost/Nixon, The Queen and The Last King of Scotland; and Robert Wade and Neal Purvis (the old blood), the veteran writing duo who have been working on the 007 franchise since The World is Not Enough.

I still maintain that no redemption is necessary for QoS. It is a good film.
The delay sucks. I want them to hurry and redeem themselves for the last film.
