Paramount Pictures has attached Barry Sonnenfeld to direct The Spellman Files, a drama/comedy/mystery thriller. Spider-Man producer Laura Ziskin is developing the project for the studio, based on the first novel in Lisa Lutz's Spellman book series. The novel was adapted by Josh Stolberg and Bobby Florsheim.

This doesn't mean that Spellman will be the next job for the Men in Black helmer; as Variety points out he's attached to four separate projects around Hollywood. But, it also helps Paramount whet the interest of the agents of actresses that are shopping for a leading part role for their clients.
