Lord of the Rings cast member Karl Urban is reportedly the leading candidate to play the role of Dr. McCoy. TrekMovie.com, who reported two weeks ago that the New Zealand native was up for an unnamed part in J.J. Abrams reboot, is breaking the story that Urban is now in talks to join the production as the Enterprise's chief physician. The site's source mentions that the contract negotiations should not be taken that Urban is a sure thing for Star Trek as one factor that could threaten to derail the talks is whether the Trek shooting schedule would conflict with Urban's own work schedule.

Zoe Saldana has been cast as the Enterprise's communications officer, Lieutenant Uhura. The 29-year-old actress had a major role in Drumline and supporting appearances in the first Pirates of the Caribbean and The Terminal movies while also being nominated for several awards for her performance in 2006's Guess Who. She is currently working for James Cameron on Avatar, the director's highly anticipated return to science fiction (and feature filmmaking) after sweeping the 1998 Oscars with Titanic. Saldana will next be seen in Sony's thriller Vantage Point opening in 2008.

The love that the online reviews have given this movie have me officially excited to see it.
Not a big Star Trek fan, but I'll see this based on Simon Pegg being in it alone.
I just watched the trailer again. Not feeling it.
Hey Patrick, your "Who's In It?" tag needs to include mention of Simon Pegg as Scotty.
