Our first sighting of a theatrical poster for Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li happened when we surfed over to The Captain's Table blogspot. Floating heads? Really? In this day and age? That's like taking us to Olive Garden on the first date; it's dinner but we're not impressed.

The official Japanese website for this movie delivers our first impressions for a trailer for it so now we at least have a better idea how the fighting sequences will look and they ain't all that bad. Rapid fire glimpses of Vega, Balrog, M. Bison and Chun-Li can be seen along with fleeting images of what appears to be some kind of energy that our heroine can fire off from her punches. It's just like the person that wrote the movie played Street Fighter II!
The only downside is that the trailer is in Japanese so we have no idea what the voiceover guy is saying (but that's what scoop submission forms are for, right?)

20th Century Fox released five additional new stills from the movie. Kristen Kreuk is front and center in all of them and a couple show Chun-Li in action against random bad guys. Haven't these bad guys played the game? You don't go up against Chun-Li's legs and survive.

A new movie based on Capcom's Street Fighter video game is in development. Variety reports that the upcoming film will be produced by Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom, the first time that the video game creator has gotten involved in producing a movie based on one of its creations.
Fresh off of his Voltron assignment, screenwriter Justin Marks has been hired to write the story which will center on Chun Li, the popular female fighter introduced in the Street Fighter II arcade game. The producers will be shopping their movie at the upcoming American Film Market and are hoping to have it released in 2008 to mark the 20th anniversary of the game.
The first Street Fighter film came out in 1994 and starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile. Ming Na played the character of Chun Li in the film.
