The Twilight Saga: Eclipse set a new record for midnight grosses yesterday. Preliminary figures sent in by the theaters indicate that Eclipse grossed at least $30 million dollars alone from the late night showings, besting the record set by New Moon last fall by nearly $4 million. At least $1 million of that impressive figure came from IMAX venues showing the movie. [Full story]
As it's now the day after Eclipse's opening the early results of its first full day out are also materializing. According to the data Eclipse took in $68.5 million dollars yesterday, giving it the new mantle of being the best Wednesday opening ever. It's also the second-highest single day gross ever (right after New Moon with its $72.7m Friday opening day.)

Reshoots began yesterday for Eclipse with outdoor scenes being filmed in a provincial park. According to at least one fansite that took spy photos of the activity, called to work that day were Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. There's also unconfirmed reports that the scene in question could be one of several "meadow" scenes that feature prominently in the novel.

Bryce Dallas Howard (Terminator: Salvation, Spider-Man 3) is joining the cast of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in the role of Victoria. As Twilight-ers very well know, actress Rachelle Lefevre originated the role of Victoria in the first Twilight film and is playing her again in New Moon. However, Summit Entertainment says that Lefevre couldn't reprise the role for a third time due to "scheduling conflicts." Lefevre will be starring in Barney's Version, which begins filming next month. Eclipse is slated to begin shooting around the same time.
"We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise," said Erik Feig, Summit's president of worldwide production and acquisitions. "Rachelle brought Victoria to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role."
