Dodgeball director and Tower Heist screenwriter Rawson Thurber has been hired to rewrite the screenplay for The Umbrella Academy. This move shows that Universal still has an interest in making something from the comic book.

Gerard Way's The Umbrella Academy is in development at Universal Pictures. Based on the series of mini-series published by Dark Horse Comics, Dark Horse Entertainment's Mike Richardson is producing along with Scott Stuber and Pamela Abdy. Mark Bomback (Constantine, Live Free or Die Hard) is adapting the comic into a screenplay. Way will receive an executive producer credit. The news broke first on Variety. [Full story]
