The first trailer for 20th Century Fox's Unstoppable just came out, and can be watched below. As well, Fox has launched UnstoppableMovie.com, the movie's official website.

Kevin Dunn (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) and Jessy Schram (Veronica Mars) have joined the cast. Dunn will play the boss of Rosario Dawson's character (who we've now learned will play a train dispatcher) while Schram will play the wife of Chris Pine's character.

Rosario Dawson (Seven Pounds, Men in Black II, Sin City) joins the cast. Details on her character haven't been spilled.

It looks like there's a light at the end of the tunnel for Fox, star Denzel Washington and Unstoppable director Tony Scott (and it's not a train rushing toward them either.) According to Variety the trio are close to working out an accomodation that would seen Washington confirmed to star in the movie. The studio is apparently so comfortable that a solution will be worked out that pre-production on the film has resumed in Pittsburgh.

The trade also has more information on what the problem was that nearly derailed the show. We already know that Fox wanted the budget of Unstoppable reduced but not by how much; Variety reports that the figure the studio had in mind was close to $90 million. That would have meant Washington would had to have reduced his salary by $4 million and director Tony Scott would have to take a reduction of $3 mil. Washington decided to walk from the project and had his agent go look for a substitution job for the fall.

So if Washington and Scott are now happy once again and Unstoppable is all-but officially a go, what was the deal reached between the players involved?

The Hollywood Reporter is breaking a story that Unstoppable has hit a delay -- and a possible derailment -- due to its high budgetary costs. The story states that 20th Century Fox is balking at the picture's proposed cost and asking the filmmakers to ratchet it back. Exact figures were not given but a good guess at what Fox is questioning is the commanding price tag that Denzel Washington commands, an A-list leading man that gets about $20 million dollars per film. Washington (and director Tony Scott) have a new film that's been out in theaters for three weeks, The Taking of Pelham 123, and it's only grossed $53 million dollars stateside for Sony Pictures so far and won't do much more. Fox believes that the key asset for Unstoppable is with the film's premise, that of an out-of-control train loaded with toxic chemicals, and so doesn't want to add to the film's costs by agreeing to pay high star salaries too. Time will tell whether this move is a bluff on Fox's part to try and get Washington to lower his fee or a sign that the studio will consider recasting.

Chris Pine is in heavy talks to star alongside Denzel Washington in Unstoppable. Pine met with director Tony Scott and Washington for dinner Tuesday night to discuss the project and, having liked what the two men had to say, got his agent to start working out a deal with 20th Century Fox's lawyers. Filming is scheduled to begin in August for a summer 2010 release. If the Star Trek actor takes the job he'll play the young engineer who leaps into the control booth of the runaway locomotive and works with the experienced railhand (Washington) to try and avert catastrophe.

Denzel Washington is now in talks to star in Unstoppable as the older train engineer character. If he makes the deal this will be the actor's fifth film with director Tony Scott. [Full story]

With his next film scheduled for release in three months, The Taking of Pelham 123 director Tony Scott is moving on to his next endeavour. Scott has come onboard 20th Century Fox's thriller Unstoppable to shape the screenplay as well as produce and direct the film. Written by Mark Bomback (Race to Witch Mountain, Live Free or Die Hard), it's about a train loaded with dangerous chemicals that slips out of control and has no one onboard to stop it. It's up to an engineer and a conductor to find a way to safely stop the train before time runs out.

Variety notes that Scott wants to make Unstoppable his next film, giving Fox every reason to believe that it will be in production before the end of the year.
