Talks are taking place between Twisted Pictures (the producers of the Saw horror franchise) and Lionsgate (the studio that releases the Saw pictures) and the rights holders to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre film franchise. While Platinum Dunes produced the 2003 remake and the 2006 prequel, both of which made money for their backers, Platinum is no longer involved with the series after talks to make a new Massacre broke down. Instead, rights holders Bob Kuhn and Kim Henkel are now close to striking a deal for multiple Massacre movies with Twisted Pictures/Lionsgate reports Variety.
According to the trade's sources, the new movie would be filmed in 3D and "contemporize" the franchise's action. Stephen Susco (The Grudge) would write the movie. Carl Mazzocone (Repo! The Genetic Opera) and Saw producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules would produce the new Massacre.
