The trailer for what promises to be one of the most interesting documentaries of 2010 can now be watched. Waking Sleeping Beauty is an inside look at the second golden age of Disney's form of animated storytelling, the creative and financial turnaround that began in earnest with the release of 1989's The Little Mermaid.
Using home video shot by the animators and management working at Walt Disney Animation during the early 1980s and on through the rebirth, we get to see what people like John Lasseter, Michael Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Tim Burton and John Musker looked like when wandering the halls of the Disney offices back when Blondie was in the top ten on the radio. For anyone that's wondered how Disney went from being an animation studio where its best memories were decades in the past to a creative powerhouse of stories, songs and vision, Waking Sleeping Beauty looks like it will tell us the answers.
Waking Sleeping Beauty arrives in theaters on March 26, 2010.
