Variety reports the sale of movie pitch to Warner Bros. called Methuselah by the writer of The Descent 2. James Watkins sold his idea to the studio and will not just write the screenplay but also direct.
The magazine describes Methuselah as an action adventure story but judging from Watkins' list of credits (four horror films including Eden Lake and the Descent sequel) I'm betting that this new movie will have its fair share of scary moments. Variety gleans that the movie's main character is a man who ages at an incredibly slow rate, much like the Biblical Methuselah himself, and thus has "time to develop an incredible set of survival skills." Sure, but what's the central story? Who's the villain? What happens? Watching a 1,000-year-old guy practice his marksmanship and survival skills can't be the whole shebang. "What I wanted was to come up with an adrenalized thriller that has a bit of intelligence and resonance," the writer/director told Variety about his idea.
Harry Potter producer David Heyman is developing the movie, which is a major player at WB to have on your side.

I suppose I ought to support this guy, what with his last name being the same as mine, and all.
