The son of Moustapha Akkad, the late producer of the original Halloween film series, is now developing a new thriller that has elements from the slasher horror sub-genre. The new film is called The Violent Kind and the film is being made outside of the studio system with independent financing.
Malek Akkad, Andy Gould, Michael Ferris Gibson, Jeremy Platt and K'Dee Miller will all work as producers on the film. The directors/writers will be Mitchell Altieri and Phil Flores who, under their pseudonym The Butcher Brothers, made 2006's The Hamiltons for Lionsgate. The Violent Kind centers on a group of bikers out to party but who become hunted by mysterious figures at a remote farmhouse.
Filming is scheduled to begin this month in northern California. Heroes co-star Taylor Cole won a role and two of the actors that worked with the Brothers before on The Hamiltons have also landed roles.
