Are Megan Fox and Michael Bay fighting it out?

Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Saturday, July 4, 2009

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen may be filling theaters with explosions and sonic booms but there's a war of words happening off-screen between star Megan Fox and director Michael Bay. It all began when Fox opened her mouth and talked about the differences between working on a Bay film versus one of the other handful of shows she's done.

"Unless you’re a seasoned veteran, working with Michael Bay is not about an acting experience," Fox told Entertainment Weekly. But the 23-year-old wasn't entirely ungrateful, adding that starring in the first Transformers "did give me a career and open all these doors for me. But I don’t want to blow smoke ... People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting."

When the Wall Street Journal asked Michae Bay what he thought of Megan's comments, the director decided to unleash some of his own CG verbage. "Well, that’s Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she's 23-years-old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, 'Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it.' But I 100% disagree with her. Nick Cage wasn’t a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck before I put him in Armageddon. Shia LaBeouf wasn’t a big movie star before he did Transformers—and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from Bad Boys. Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in Transformers. I like to think that I’ve had some luck in building actors' careers with my films."

So far no Transformer from the Autobots or Decepticons has decided to comment on Bay or Fox's comments.

They're both right, and both wrong. Fox is right in that Michael Bay movies are NOT "Citizen Kane". You see his name on it, you don't expect that. But by God, talk about biting the hand that feeds you!

Bay is right in that sometimes you take what people say with a grain of salt. Blaming it on the fact that she's young and dumb (which is basically what he did) isn't exactly the most mature response, either.

As for him building actors, I'd like to shrug it off, but looking at those actors' bodies of work Pre-Bay and Post-Bay......it's arguable, at the very least...

Yup. Due to Good Will Hunting, Ben Affleck was one half of that years hottest screen buddy partnership. To talk about The Rock as the beginning of Nic Cage's career is disingenious.

Martin Lawrence was big in stand-up and Will Smith was still starring in a top rated sitcom when Bad Boys was made.

As for Shia, the props should probably go to his agent as that kid is now f**king EVERYWHERE!

Hmm, yeah....Cage won an Oscar before Michael Bay ruined him by turning him into an action star.

And HONEYMOON IN VEGAS is still my favorite Nic Cage movie. The man is hilarious.

So basically he is claiming he "made" an actor who was already an Oscar winner. This is not the only thing Bay has said over the years that would seem to indicate a rather tenuous grip on reality.

Let's not forget that Sean Connery and Bruce Willis were nobodies until Bay plucked them from the Anonymous Actors Tree.
