well, this news should only effect the teenager market.. I'm 39 and have no particular interest in any of these films...

Boy werewolf. Teenage girl. Shiver movie.

Hollywood is all about finding the next Twilight now. Does this author's teen rom-dram book about a love affair between a magical satyr and a high school jock have what it takes to start a new film franchise? Maybe this one about a emo-boy that changes into a sea monster and pines for the school's star swimmer from afar? I know: she's a fairy princess and he's Michael Cera. Where do I pick up my check?
Bitter writer guy aside, Unique Features has bought the screen rights to Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, a book series that I had never heard of until today (even though I spend all my free time cruising the teenage novel section at the local mall's bookstore. Huh. Go figure.) The novel's about a teenage boy that turns into a wolf during the winter. Thankfully the guy found a girlfriend in the spring or summer before he sprouted hair and he's using her love as a means to stay human for longer. And if that premise isn't an allegory for trying to stay pure and not give into the sexual desires of teen sex, I don't know what is. I mean, that was MY story when I was a teen.
Robert Shaye, producer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and also now developing Shiver movie, tries to reach out to the jaded thirtysomething asses like myself who are willing to brand Shiver as a stereotypical Twilight story. "I'm not the biggest werewolf or vampire fan, but the author has a strong take on a young adult sensibility," Shaye told the green-colored trade. "It's also a sexy love story that isn't too over the top." Alright. Maybe I'll ask my teenage girl friends if they've read it at our next sleepover.
u got the story line wrong in too many ways my friend. he doesnt get a girlfriend in the summer or spring, its way deeper than that. im a twihard, but this book was way better than the whole twilight series. it will make a good movie if they stick with the timeline in the book.
maybe you should actually read the book then you can comment ,because your little blog is all wrong an a insult to the fabulous storyline in Shiver, and if they stick to that the film will blow Twilight out of the water.

On the bright side, the more often the creative talent vacuums of Hollywood keep returning to this particular well, the quicker it will run dry.
