With less than two weeks to go until the third season of AMC's Mad Men is broadcast it makes perfect sense for Esquire to do a photo shoot of the redhaired Joan Holloway on the show, actress Christina Hendricks. And furthermore, it makes sense in the world of magazine publishing and online blogging for Christina Hendricks to be wearing a form-fitting black garment that would give most of us pause if we happened to come across her outside the trailer pictured in the Esquire photo shoot.

What Joan Collins was to Dynasty in the 1980s and Heather Locklear to Melrose Place in the '90s, Hendricks' icy cool Joan is the shark in the waters at the show's Sterling Cooper advertising agency. She's the top hen in the secretarial pool at the company and she lets everyone know it through her words and demeanor. Of course, I''m now just filling words in this story to make it look like it's not solely being published as a cheap way to get hits or for me to gush as to how hot Christina is, but I'm that kind of guy that wants to take the high road with his journalism.

Season three of Mad Men premieres on August 16 on AMC. There. That's something factual. I can stop there.
