The Tauntaun Sleeping Bag is really happening

Do you remember that kids Tauntaun sleeping bag that ThinkGeek thought up for an April Fool's Day joke? Starting next month the joke won't be on us anymore as the innovative online store will actually begin to sell Tauntaun Sleeping Bags for lil' (and big) Star Wars munchkins. Thank the Force and the demands of fans that came, saw and requested it be made.

Sesame Street's Mad Men share their feelings

It's great to see that the peeps making Sesame Street are onto the cultural zeitgeist. Check out this recently aired spoof of AMC's Emmy-winning Mad Men series and discover that in the muppet universe, Don Draper is covered with orange felt.

The world's only Bill Paxton pinball machine

I spend a lot of time every day connected to the internet and I see many things. Very few of them come as close to being as incredibly geeky and super-cool as what Benjamin J. Heckendorn is making in his off-time: the world's only and fully working pinball machine meant to honor the film career of Bill Paxton. Twister. Aliens. True Lies. Frailty. The Dark Backward. Weird Science. The Terminator. The man is worthy -- nay, OWED -- a pinball machine to his geek greatness.

Dig Dug: The Scary Movie

Video game movies are the easy target for parodies; after all, when the majority of real films based on games are so awful (remain standing in the corner of the room Uwe Boll!), you can expect to see people mocking the absurdity of the phenomena. Yet here we are and Universal has an Asteroids movie in development which only goes to prove that reality is stranger than fiction.

Hitler's fed up with the Avatar hype

By now anyone that's spent more than twenty minutes online will have seen the many parodies using a now infamous clip from Downfall, the German 2004 film that starred Bruno Ganz in a riveting performance as Adolf Hitler in his final days. If you haven't seen the film there's a scene where Hitler is given the news that the war is over for Germany. Hitler then proceeds to chew out his commanders for letting this happen.

Corona's creator on Attack of the Show

I was asked to be a guest on today's Attack of the Show program on G4 Tech TV to discuss the release of the first Avatar trailer. Host Kevin Pereira and producer Sean Jordan were very cool and nice and I felt that I did an OK job of answering Kevin's questions about the movie and also offering my thoughts on what I saw. However, now that I've seen what I look like on TV I'll be starting a diet and doing a lot of trips to the gym. I wish James Cameron could make me a 20 pounds lighter avatar of myself with his computer technology.

The Gwyneth Paltrow hate continues

Remember when I told you yesterday that Gwyneth Paltrow is probably the most disliked Hollywood celeb of the blogosphere? If I ever have to make a case against her, this is my exhibit A:

Quentin Tarantino's top 20 films of the past 17 years

As the final days tick down until the opening of Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds is upon us, Britain's Sky Movies channel got the director to program a week's worth of shows and also broadcast several interview segments with him including this one, a list of Q.T.'s top 20 movies from the past 17 years. Why 17 years instead of a more even number? Because it's been 17 years since Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs burst onto the scene and he made the move from a film fanboy to a working film professional, that's why.

A long time ago in a bikini suit not too far away...

Don't be fooled into thinking that viral marketing is one of these new fandangled things that has only been around for less than a generation. Back in the olden days before the 21st century was the lame present day, the marketers and salesmen in the days of Mad Men's Don Draper called it the pitch. In the days of P.T. Barnum and his three ring circus it was the show. But if there's one thing that the salesmen know that works it's that sex sells. That said, even though I thought that I had seen all the different ways jiggly bits of women flesh could be used to promote someone's wares I have to say that I hadn't seen it done so in the way that I'm about to show you.

28 Days Later gets ongoing comic book series

In 2002 Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later presented to us another spin on the zombie apocalypse with its biologically created rage-crazed hordes of Infected prowling the U.K. A sequel followed in 2007, 28 Weeks Later, which saw American military forces repopulate London with the non-infected British survivors fortunate enough to escape the plague. Now Boom Studios is launching an ongoing 28 Days Later comic book series that will connect the events from the conclusion of the first film to the start of the sequel using one of the characters from movie number one, Selena.

What if Ghostbusters were made in 1954?

In the past 25 years there's been just one movie that perfectly blended together comedians and supernatural scares: Ghostbusters. But if you were watching films in the '40s and '50s then you already know that the men in the 1984 film weren't the only funny guys investigating free-floating apparitions. Before Murray, Ramis and Ackroyd there were Abbott and Costello, Bob Hope, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis sticking their noses inside haunted houses and making audiences laugh and scream in surprise. Now, thanks to the wonder of video editing software and the talents of a Ghostbusters superfan we have a visual idea as to what a Ghostbusters movie might look like it if came out 30 years before it did...
