In defense of Lego Zion
The day will come when a movie is completely remade using Lego. It might be Star Wars, it may be Alien, it could even be Fried Green Tomatoes. But that day will come, mark my words.

The architecture of Star Wars
For years now we've seen top 10 lists after top 10 lists all relating to Star Wars. Whether it's the top 10 explosions, the top 10 lines, the top 10 aliens, the top 10 vehicles or the top 10 dumbest things about the prequels, almost every conceivable angle for a top 10 Star Wars list has been done. Almost, I said: if you're going to do a list of the top 10 most architecturally magnificent places in the Star Wars galaxy you really should get the professionals to assemble it. And that's precisely what the British-based Architects Journal did.

Star Trek corsets, the final frontier for fashion
Ah, the designers on Etsy, how I love that site. If you're unaware of what it does, consider it a cooler version of an online shopping store where one-person boutiques can flog their usually one-of-a-kind wares. Many has been the times that I've spotted a shirt or a cap designed by some talented costumer that's been inspired by one of their favorite TV shows or movies. And if Paramount's licensing department isn't going to make Star Trek-inspired corsets then someone should, right?

Neil Patrick Harris closing Tonys number
In case you missed last night's Tony Awards, host Neil Patrick Harris closed the show with a wow of a musical number that managed to encapsulate the winners and a few zingers. As NPH himself said, it couldn't be any gayer or fab than this:

Magnum P.I. vs. Han Solo: Who wins?
In the 1980s there was one man on TV who had the coolest theme song, ride and job. His name was Thomas Magnum and he was a private investigator living in the guest bungalow of a millionaire. He drove a red Ferrari 308 GTS. And he had a moustache that rocked.
In the 1980s there was one man in movies who had the coolest opening musical score, ride and job. His name was Han Solo and he was a smuggler who grudgingly became a general in the Rebel Alliance. He drove a heavily modified YT-1300 light freighter called the Millennium Falcon. And even though Solo didn't have a moustache he walked around with the confidence of a moustache owner.

Cool guys don't look at explosions
Last night at the MTV Movie Awards host Andy Samburg showed a video featuring a new parody song, "Cool Guys Don't Look at Explosions". It's become a cliche in modern cinema for the hero or villain to walk casually away from a large explosion that they set off, and if it's a really special moment, the hero/villain strides away in slow motion. Samburg parodied the tired pop culture phenomena perfectly and as back up he had Will Ferrell as Neil Diamond and Star Trek helmer J.J. Abrams on the '80s keyboard.

Witness the awe and spectacle of Transforminators
Imagine mashing up the storylines of Terminator Salvation and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen into one apocalyptic vision about killer robots. Shia LeBeouf could be a Terminator. Megan Fox could ride around blasted freeways on mototerminator bikes. And Christian Bale could scream at two directors of photography instead of just one.

For sale: Cameron's house from Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Children of the 1980s will remember every little bit of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the 1986 John Hughes comedy that saw Matthew Broderick playing the ultra-cool high school slacker. Besides giving us a pre-nose job Jennifer Grey and bringing The Beatles' "Twist and Shout" back into the top 20 pop charts it also had a memorable scene inside Ferris' best friend's home of Cameron. If you imagine yourself the ultimate Ferris Bueller fan and would consider relocating to Chicago, would you consider buying Cameron's house to live in yourself?

This fan made Green Lantern trailer flies high
It may still be a little more than two years away before the Green Lantern movie blasts its way onto silver screens worldwide but until then the army of fanboys are doing their job to keep the green flame alight. Consider this exceedingly well made fan trailer for a Green Lantern movie starring Nation Fillion as the emerald warrior. Created by Jaron Pitts using material from a whopping 27 different movies and TV shows, it'll do until Warner Bros. gives us the real thing.

Twilight actor meets Fight Club
What would happen when manically-obsessed Twilight fans met up with the actor that played their hero's enemy? Probably nothing more than fan worship and maybe a few offers of sexual gratification but I can dream about living in a world like the one depicted in this video, can't I?

No surprise here: Disney teen stars are genetically grown
Someone at The Onion must have been watching Blade Runner and High School Musical back-to-back. Come to think of it, I wonder what Roy Batty's death speech ("I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...") would be like if delivered by Zac Efron.

When Darth Vader met J.R. Ewing
Take the opening credit sequence for one mega-popular late 1970s primetime soap and set it a long time ago in a galaxy, far, far away from Texas and what do you get? Why, you strike space oil on YouTube!

Making old Star Trek look like new Star Trek
Is it insanity or just evolution we're witnessing with J.J. Abrams vision of Star Trek? One enterprising YouTube creator came up with a way that instantly transforms any old episode of the original Star Trek to 2009's version of Star Trek. Just one warning: you may need to wear sunglasses in order to watch every episode in full.

Star Trek cast members on SNL
In case you missed yesterday's Saturday Night Live, Star Trek cast members Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy made a surprise appearance during the Weekend Update news segment. Pine and Quinto had something to ask to Trekkies and then Nimoy laid down the ruler. Watch and see what happened:
