Dark Castle Entertainment has optioned the rights to The Nye Incidents, a Devil's Due comic book series created by Whitley Streiber and Craig Spector.
The series, which was published last year, is inspired by a supposed true story steeped in alien abduction lore, a subject that Streiber knows much about if you believe the story he told his readers in the pages of Communion. The comic follows a medical examiner of a small county investigating the grizzly murders of people that claim to have been abducted by aliens. The horrible mutilations of the bodies baffle the examiner's sensibilities, leading her to suspect that the killer may be something not of this world.
Todd Lincoln is already attached to direct the horror film for Dark Castle. He's the guy who has been developing to the movie version of Hack/Slash, also based on another Devil's Due comic book series. Producing The Nye Incidents will be Joel Silver, Andrew Rona, Alex Heineman, Daniel Alter and Lincoln.

So this isn't about Bill Nye? Bummer.
I read Communion many years ago, and it was odd. I'm still not sure if Strieber is genuine or he created a work of fiction and is passing it off as truth in order to increase sales. Whatever the case, he's certainly made abduction stories his career.
Then again, former NASA Apollo 14 astronaut, Edgar Mitchell, also says we've been visited by aliens: http://dsc.discovery.com/space/qa/alien-ufo-edgar-mitchell.html
