Did the Indiana Jones next gen game get nuked?
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Thursday, January 15, 2009

According to unnamed sources that supposedly work inside LucasArts, IGN is reporting that the unnamed next gen Indiana Jones video game has been quietly cancelled.
The IGN article states that the Indiana Jones team -- which had been using the company's new Euphoria character modeling engine -- has been broken up and are now working on other projects.
First announced by the company back in 2007, LucasArts was gung ho on crafting a new Indy game to go on sale in tandem with the theatrical release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. However, there hasn't been any updates on the game's status nor any screenshots or trailers ever since that initial first look video was shown off at '07's E3.
Instead of having a new Indiana Jones game using the Euphoria engine come out in 2008 LucasArts released Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Sales of that game (which did use Euphoria) were high with 1.5 million copies selling in the game's first week of release.
Hoping to uncover an official notice of termination, Joystiq contacted LucasArts and got the following response: "LucasArts remains absolutely committed to the Indiana Jones franchise. While we are aware that fans have been eagerly awaiting additional information on the upcoming game, they can rest assured that details are forthcoming." But when will that be and what will be finally said when Lucas deems it time to let the fans who have been waiting for this game?
Just grab something out of that infamous fridge then. It's all nice and nuked now.
Whoops! Forgot about that lead lining. Guess it's not nuked at all. My bad.
Because they were thinking of going out for all consoles, then they thought of going for the wii, then the corporation had trouble with the Euphoria Engine, and other problems like that that caused it to be cancelled. If you think about it, who really wants to play an Indiana Jones game after the movie series ended last year? honestly...

Well, the last Indy game sort of sucked, and the movie was no great shakes, so this ain't exactly breaking my heart.
