If you heard the reports that Dwayne Johnson wanted to play Race Bannon in a live-action Jonny Quest movie, the ex-WWE superstar also namedropped High School Musical's Zac Efron as the leading candidate to play the title character. Today Moviehole published a portion of their interview with Efron (who was promoting his new flick 17 Again) and got some answers straight from the source about his involvement with Jonny Quest.

"Yeah, yeah… it's a great idea; it'd be very fun," Efron started off saying but was soon quick to dismiss the idea that the film was rapidly coming together and would be on the near horizon. "It’s a long, long process. It’s so hard when people start leaking titbits. They’re very, very early on [with it] – not that it won’t happen happen, it’s just early."

Efron said that it's still likely a couple of years away before audiences can munch on their popcorn while watching Jonny Quest in the theater. Likening it to the Footloose remake that he's attached to headline in, Efron said "People legitimately said to me today, ‘So Footloose is coming out, right?’ I’m like ‘No. The script is coming out’."
