Fifth Terminator film moving ahead
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Monday, December 15, 2008
Things are looking positive for the future of Terminator Salvation. In fact, the outlook for the financial propects of the fourth film in that sci-fi/action series are so rosy that its owners have already started putting together ideas for the direction of the next movie.
The news was announced at the Dubai International Film Festival and reported via Variety. The reason for this positive prognosis comes from the good word being heard from the studio, fan and media communities about the look of T4. "We feel the time is now to start shaping the next part of this," said Victor Kubicek, one of the execs of The Halcyon Company which owns the rights to the franchise.
While the notion of a sequel to Terminator Salvation doesn't come as a surprise because the original idea was to create a new trilogy set in the future war era glimpsed in the first three movies, this new development does set the stage for a T5 to arrive sooner rather than later. Already a prospective release date has been targeted, that being 2011, and there is already a deal in place between Halcyon and Salvation star Christian Bale that would see him star as resistance leader John Connor in two more Terminator movies.
Terminator Salvation director McG was in Dubai for the announcement but nothing was said about if he would be the company's first choice to direct the fifth movie or even if he would be interested in taking the job.

Are there enough bullets and ammunition left in the world to complete two more Terminators? I thought they used them all up by T3?
I must be getting old because the most I remember from the last couple of Terminators is lots of gunfire, a motorcycle or two and a hot naked T-X.
