Ain't It Cool News is reporting that the film fan fav comedy team of Nick Frost and Simon Pegg have been cast in the live-action Tintin movie as Thompson and Thomson.

According to the site, which heard it from an unnamed source not connected to the production, the Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz pair will play detectives who may be brothers (it's unclear in the original Tintin books whether the duo are related even though they look similar to each other except for their moustaches.) Thompson and Thomson provide much comic relief in the Tintin tales, a speciality that Frost and Pegg have proven very capable of handling as well as playing off of each other.

Filming on the $150 million dollar live-action/motion capture film is scheduled to begin by March. Steven Spielberg will direct the first in what's planned as a trilogy of Tintin flicks, with Lord of the Rings' Peter Jackson having already agreed to direct film #2. The only other cast member confirmed for the franchise is Jackson's lucky charm, Andy Serkis, who will play the part of Captain Haddock.
