The Ghostbusters are headed back into theaters next month to celebrate all things spooky in October.
Columbia Pictures will rerelease the 1984 Ghostbusters movie into approximately 500 theaters, on October 13, 20 and 27 (all dates are on Thursdays.) The venues will show the comedy just one time on each day.
We're delighted to be bringing Ghostbusters back to the big screen -- this is a special celebration of the movie, giving the fans a chance to see it on the big screen in perfect digital presentation," Rory Bruer, president of Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures, said in a statement released today.
All copies of Ghostbusters will be presented in 2k digital and in 5.1 surround sound.
Originally released in June 1984, Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as four blue-collar spook eradicators earning their paychecks in a haunted new York City. Sigourney Weaver also starred in the comedy, directed by Ivan Reitman, which went on to become 1984's highest-grossing movie. A luke warm sequel followed in 1990, and Ghostbusters III remains a possibility that could happen if the stars align just right.

If it's not in 3D, what's even the goddamn point?
