Paul Giamatti (Sideways) and James Purefoy (Solomon Kane) are starring in Ironclad, an action film set in the middle ages. Giamatti will play the film's villain, King John, while Purefoy is one of the Knights Templar charged with defending Rochester Castle against the forces of John. Jonathan English (Minotaur) is directing from a script that he co-wrote with Erick Kastle (Offspring).

Right now Giamatti is finishing up work on Barney's Version, lensing in Toronto. After that he catches a plane to Ireland where production on Ironclad will get underway starting next month.

Rick Benattar (Shoot 'Em Up) and Andrew Curtis are producing the 13th century-set film.
