Heaven's Shadow falls upon Warner Bros.
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Monday, August 23, 2010
David Goyer is a likeable guy. He's fought his way up from being a writer for shlocky horror movies in the 1990s to a respected producer/director/screenwriter. Not every film he makes is a winner but having credits on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight kinda rounds things out.
Goyer's now got a check to cash that's in the millions. Warner Bros. has just successfully bid for the screen rights to Heaven's Shadow and its two sequels, Heaven's War and Heaven's Fall. The trio are novels that Goyer is co-writing, with Shadow slated to be published in July 2011. The story is about a world-ending meteor that's on a collision course with Earth, which eventually turns out to be something alien but still of dire threat to humanity.
The Blade trilogy screenwriter is putting together a treatment for a Christopher Nolan-produced Superman movie, of which the story details haven't as yet emerged. As for the Heaven's Shadow movie, Goyer will write the screenplay for that as well as be a producer on it.
