You're absolutely right. I got my Carradines mixed up. Thanks and I've corrected the mistake in the story.

The 1981 werewolf movie The Howling is getting a second shot to find an audience. A remake is in the planning stages and tentatively scheduled to go in front of cameras next February. It could even be out in theaters by Halloween 2010.
Two movie producers known for their indie films are responsible for shepherding this new Howling. They are Joel Kastelberg and Etchie Stroh and they've got a director by the name of Joe Nimziki who used to work as a marketing executive for studios. He's written a screenplay called The Howling: Reborn, which is very appropriate since the six Howling sequels that followed the original not only stunk up the franchise, I would dare say that an entirely new stinky odor was created.
The original Howling had three great things working for it: strong direction by Joe Dante (Gremlins, the upcoming thriller The Hole 3D), a tight, serious script by John Sayles and werewolf transformation makeup by Rob Bottin that may be just a step under the perfection that Rick Baker showed us in An American Werewolf in London. And there was nudity. Plus Slim Pickens and John Carradine turned into werewolves too!
Just check out this transformation sequence where Roberto Picardo's serial killer wolfs out. You're so owned, Jacob Black CG FX!
It's also being reported that Steve Lang and Bob Pringle, two of the original Howling's executive producers, will also executive produce The Howling: Reborn. A good omen, perhaps?
Nicolletta there actually HAS been a few decent entries in the werewolf genre but they didnt hit the big screen... they came to DVD. Try any of the three Ginger Snaps trilogy and Dog Soldiers (a GOOD sci/fi channel original) for starters... they ARE out there but they are rare and few and far between... but they ARE out there.
also get ready for The Wolfman
Plus chuck Connors FOX TV show Werewolf is finally available on DVD. YAY!
stay away from American werewolf in Paris and i'm not a huge fan of the wolves in Underworld, and I absolutely hated the werewolf from Van Helsing and I'm NOT seeing Twilight: New Moon.
Werewolf is out on DeeVeeDee? RAWK!
I never got the big deal about this movie, so remaking it won't bother me a bit....Just don't make the werewolfs sparkle when the moonight hits them please!
oh god.. please tell me they DIDNT do that in NEW MOON????
correction about Chuck Connors Werewolf: Complete Series, only one warehouse (DVD BOX OFFICE) has it in stock now so I'll take it that Shout Factory didnt print too many of them. that vendor has a two and a half star rating... so take your chances on ordering from them.
While I loved Rob Bottin for John Carpenter's The Thing, I thought the Howling transformation was lame.
Especially following American Werewolf in London. It wasn't even close.
I thought the storyline elements in American Werewolf in Paris were interesting. All the stuff about the bad guys thinking they were the superior new race etc. etc. Shame it was so woefully executed and had a complete cop-out of an ending.
Paris was one of those movies I consider a guilty pleasure....I mean, I KNOW it's bad but for some reason find it enjoyable to watch....Kind of like Krull....hahahah

I really, really hope this remake doesn't suck. There hasn't been a good werewolf movie in ages.
It was John Carradine who co-starred in "The Howling", not David Carradine.
